You are right that we need that data in order to have a clear picture about all of this, but... well, that's just the thing: even the way someone *interprets* that data could make or break the case of macOS on the iPad either way.

Me, for instance, I can tell you right now that even if it was just e.g. around 10% of iPad Pro owners that would be interested in running macOS programs on the iPad Pro, it would STILL be worth it. Because it would not just be about pleasing those people, it would also be about encouraging other people to buy a device that can clearly pull double duty and do so amazingly well. Those people Apple will NEVER convince to get a MacBook *and* an iPad at the same time unless those were the absolute basic models. But it could convince them to get an iPad Pro that will be absolutely great for everything.

Apple still thinks about the whole cannibalization of sales thing in the exact same way it did 5-10 years ago. I believe that people who would run a few macOS programs on an iPad Pro would do that for the sake of convenience and that most of them would *already* have a Mac. It would probably not be their main machine, let alone their only one. The percentage of true professionals who just can't do the necessary work day-to-day on a 13-inch *anything* is still very high. But splitting work between devices e.g. a powerful desktop and a portable machine in order to save time can be a life saver in many situations - and many professionals would easily get an iPad Pro for that, if they knew they'd be able to run on it the macOS programs they know and love.

Also went through that article you mentioned and found several points I totally agree with and several that I do not. That's often the case, I find, as we all form our opinions based on what we've experienced and what we've discussed with others. I can obviously be wrong about a lot of things but so can everyone else. We're just sharing our points of view here!
