Well, of course I’m pissed off with them — what surprises me, to be honest, is how more people aren’t. We tend to just shrug shoulders with things like these with Apple because we have loved its products for a very long time, but, as the saying goes, “if you’re not angry, you’re not paying attention”. This is not the same company that relaunched the Mac, brought the iPhone and the iPad to the market.

I’d hate to fall back on “divine Jobs” arguments to make a point, but the truth of the matter is that Apple has been extremely well-managed, but not well-driven for almost a decade now. And it shows.

You’re absolutely right about Google, of course, but — after a bit of thought — I think that I prefer a company that brings out new stuff often and sometimes gets it right, sometimes wrong, but, you know, tries, to a company that contributes absolutely nothing to modern computing. The way Apple is operating at this point in time is totally self-serving and that is not acceptable for “the most valuable company in the world”. It may or may not be that, but it sure has more resources at its disposal than almost anyone else. It should be the one driving software and services R&D, not following everyone else.

To be honest I’ve kept up with what was covered in the WWDC days following the keynote and found nothing that could change my mind. Here’s hope that, at the very least, all these uninspiring OS updates work flawlessly at the very least because, if they don’t, then I’d really be “pissed off”!
