Well, great. Now that we're on the same page, it's not hard for me to make my case.

There is a reason companies that work in the show business and follow specific workflows go with Axxxx or Quadros. They need the certified drivers, they need the enterprise support and guarantee, they want that whole package. There's no way a company like Netflix or Amazon would get off-the-shelf GeForces for anything other than experimental projects.

As far as your friends are concerned, sure. They may use 3090s, yes, but most probably as freelancers (and even they would probably prefer an Axxxx or a Quadro if they did not come with such a premium). There's no way a big organization or a movie studio would prefer to get 3090s, Tis or otherwise, rather than nVidia's pro-grade products.

It's the same with gaming. Sure, you can game with an Axxxx or a Quadro, but their performance will be lower than it should be due to hardware differences and a totally different driver structure compared to GeForce drivers. There are plenty of YouTube videos proving as much.

In any case, the WHOLE POINT of the story I published is this: the RTX 3090 Ti is a bad buy REGARDLESS of any specific use case. A 10% uplift in games performance or rendering performance or export performance for a $500 difference (in RRP terms even), for such higher consumption, at this point in time, compared to a card that's been out for more than a year already, is unacceptable.

If you do the rounds to read reviews of the 3090 Ti they all come to pretty much the same conclusion. So even if we're not talking about gamers but e.g. video producers, for whom time is money, the purchase of a 3090 Ti is still a bad idea when they can have a 3090 to get 90% of performance for much less. It's just not a good investment. If one factors in the RTX 4xxxx, which is 6 months away tops, a 3090 Ti just makes no sense.
