Want and need are two different things. :-) Sure, I'd *like* to have a foldable phone for the novelty factor, but so far I am not convinced that there is a use case in my life that would make me feel that I *need* one.

Samsung may very well solve all the problems of current Galaxy Folds by 2023 and STILL not convince a lot of people that foldables "are the future" if there's no actual value to be had from carrying one around.

In essence this is the actual challenge Apple will be facing with foldables if it decides to enter that category: it will have to convince enough people that, for them, a foldable iPhone is preferable to a typical iPhone. It will have to manage that through hardware and software combined, probably.

TBH right now I cannot imagine why I'd put down e.g. €2000 for a foldable iPhone in 2023. I will probably be using a top iPhone and a top iPad as I do now so this "hybrid" device will have to pull off something amazing to make me feel like I'll need it. We'll see, I guess!
