True, although - to be honest - this applies more to the Dynamic Island, for instance, than the Always-On feature.
What I'd personally like to see Apple do is adjust the AO options in such a way that it would only show basic black and white information on a totally black screen. This is only doable now if one uses a totally black wallpaper (!!!), which is of course silly.
I think that it's up to Apple to get the basics of the Always-On function right on a system level. Any original and handy widgets developers can contribute after that will obviously be welcome but, for the time being, this feature needs fixing - or, at the very least, much higher degree of configurability. Which, incidentally, Apple does not really like to offer, but hey. It's either that or a broken feature, so...
