To be honest, I was not focusing on Microsoft "supporting" WordPad or not, leaving it just the way it is would not be a problem. Neither me or anyone else asked of Microsoft to develop WordPad further because, simply put, it's practically perfect for the job it was meant to do.
What the piece tried to prove was that WordPad did not really *have to go*. There is SO MUCH BLOAT in Windows 10/11 already that a 3MB app makes no difference. None whatsoever.
It's the way of thinking behind the deprecation of WordPad that's so insulting. This is a company that blew past the 1 trillion-dollar valuation point a few months back. Did it really need a few more Microsoft 365 subscriptions from that small group of longtime WordPad users? No. It's doing it just because it can. It's just disgusting, hence this piece.
