This is how I feel about the whole thing too. But, to be perfectly honest, I *do* fear that at some point down the line Apple might realize that they can make more money out of macOS and start with the same shit Microsoft has been doing over the past decade.

Just as you say, they make way more money elsewhere so they don't need to do that - plus, privacy and security are supposed to be a major focus and USP for them, so I can't imagine them abandoning that so easily.

Still, we can't lose sight of the fact that these are megacorporations built to make money for their investors, not do good things for consumers (unless it suits them to do so). Apple has done a lot of consumer-hostile choices when it comes to hardware, for instance.

But yeah, it feels like macOS time to me too now. I have finally had enough with Windows and I am not convinced that a single Linux distro will cover all of my needs, so for day-to-day stuff macOS it is. I'll keep my Windows PC around for gaming and that's pretty much it.
