This is a problem with every new generation/iteration of existing tech, yes, but the situation with 8K is particularly tricky because 4K already is (and will be for some time) more than good enough for a lot of people, even on TVs exceeding 75 inches in diagonal.

The “more solid picture” argument does not seem to be working all that much at the moment. I can see it and I get how manufacturers mean it when say it, but many people I have shown quality content to, on three different 8K TVs, seemed rather unimpressed by the pixel density.

And to think that a handful of Japanese manufacturers are already testing 16K panels…
