Sony is interested in the tech helping future cars e.g. autonomous driving, safety, connectivity etc. - not in building a car itself or even work with a specific manufacturer on one.

I wouldn't be surprised if such a collaboration took place in a couple of years, though. It's a promising sector and many tech companies are forming alliances with car manufacturers these days.
