No content marketers here. Plain old journalist and an old-school one at that. Funnily enough, though, with some of these points I completely agree, especially on the effects of tech on society.

Having said that, asking for "innovation for innovation's sake" is one thing, accusing a company of practically limitless resources of not innovating at all is quite another. Nobody's expecting Apple to innovate just to brag about it - like Samsung does sometimes, for instance - but it's not too much to ask of this behemoth of a company to contribute at least a little to the advancement of modern computing.

Putting its bottom-line above all else Apple is appearing to be arrogant and selfish to the point where even long-time fans, like me and others I work with or socialize with, are not feeling comfortable defending it anymore. Simple as that. Something has to change in Apple's attitude.

Oh, and by the way, I do not know how "regular people" are about these things, but I do know that when I show people something interesting in a product that is not Apple's - I am lucky enough to be getting my hands on plenty of those - they always, ALWAYS ask "Why hasn't Apple done this?". I think it's telling.
