In points, as I really don't feel like wasting time on discussions such as this one. Musk fanboys and fascists can't be reasoned with.
- I have founded or turned around just as many companies as Musk has, which is to say, zero. Do your homework.
- I am politically much more aware than you are and certainly enough to know that there is no "right" anymore (as there is no real "left" too). There is only neoliberal, far right, fascist and nazi on the other side of "progressive" (whatever that means). There's no "right" in the sense of "just conservative" anymore. Again, do your homework.
- I am anything but defensive. I love Twitter more than any other social network, that is why I was so sad to see it end up in the hands of not just Musk but ANY billionaire. Internet entities of such impact should not be run by these people.
And here is some offense for you: Musk is the absolute WORST that could happen to Twitter. He is a PR product, a sociopath and a man-child with serious issues. Not an engineer, not a programmer, not a manager, not anything. Just a ruthless businessman that would be nowhere without his daddy's diamonds and lots of government contracts and shady deals. So yeah, Twitter could do much better than this man.
- It's so rich to see a Musk fanboy accuse others of "not question anything", since you all have bought into a persona that does not exist. Musk is a lie and a fraud and it's not even information that's hard to find. Again, do your homework.
- I am still on Twitter partly because of curiosity (I just want to see what happens), partly because of loyalty (I am not about to just let it become a fascist playground), partly because of hope (because if that man really does mean to run Twitter long-term then he will have to undo a lot of the changes he did during the last two months).
- It's not just Trump supporters that Musk let back in, it's people that are officially fascists and nazis, banned in all other social networks and even prosecuted in many countries. Even if Musk is genuinely interested in "free speech" - which I highly doubt given his behavior - then those people surely aren't. They are just going to bring back the hate speech, racial slurs and toxicity that almost destroyed Twitter in the previous decade. Yet again, do your homework. You do not seem to understand the background or the context of all this.
- Regarding the "as long as it is legal, any ideology is OK"... I can't tell whether you are naive or just repeating a fascist's position. January 6th demonstrated beyond a shred of a doubt that organized online fascism and systematic hate speech can have dire real-world consequences.
There is no "ideology" in fascism, racism or any other form of hate expressed towards other people, be it minorities, groups of other political beliefs, what have you. What Musk did is leave the doors open for people who are not interested in civilized conversation or arguments or anything like that. They just want chaos. That is all.
- The moment I read "cancel culture" I knew I should not reply to any of this. It's a term used by people who do not think that they should be held liable for their actions, be it online or in real life. They hate investigative journalism, facts and proof. They just want to do their thing without consequence. Well, yeah. That's exactly the kind of people Musk let back in and the kind of people that will make Twitter toxic for everyone else again. Enjoy.
