I reluctantly agree. The whole idea of my writing ths story was that if Apple wasn't going to let us make use of the power of the M1, then the M2 would make no sense. In my humble opinion, that's *still* true as I am pretty sure that most apps *still* do not take full advantage of the M1, let alone the M2. I do hope that changes at some point, although I have decided to not buy another iPad Pro ever again.

Having full external display support at long last is absolutely great - I am glad it works so well in your case, there are others too - but doing *one* thing on a big screen is rather unusual. Most of us want the big screen for the difference the extra real estate makes in multitasking (I work on a 77-inch 4K OLED with six to eight programs open at any given time for instance).

THAT is what I was hoping Apple would give us: the desktop experience on the iPad screen, so that I could do some work comfortably when out and about without carrying my laptop.

From what I have seen so far (I will not install the beta out of principle), to be honest, I am not sold on Stage Manager just yet. In typical Apple fashion, it seems a kind of 1.0, halfhearted effort, but I reserve judgement until I have spent enough time with this system.

It's clear that progress has been made but it needs A LOT of work. I do wonder whether it wouldn't be preferable for Apple itself to just give us what we actually want - a proper macOS dual boot solution - and be done with it instead of shoehorning a windowed apps management system in iPadOS. Time will tell, I guess!
