I disagree. Sure, I get that it’s not easy to innovate/”innovate” in the operating system space anymore, it’s no coincidence that everybody is copying everybody else.

BUT THIS IS APPLE WE ARE TALKING ABOUT. It has the resources to hire as many engineers as it likes, as many OS/UX/UI veterans as it likes and the luxury to experiment with stuff. The company’s fans have been incredibly patient with its software failures over the years, so it can bring out 1.0 versions of new ideas and iterate on those. But… no. It chooses to snuff out that small software company that had the idea to turn a smartphone’s camera into a computer’s webcam, because why not?

I always find it SO ironic that in the tech world it’s the tiny startups that innovate and the behemoths that do not. If the former bet on something risky and it does not prove successful, they are toast. If the latter do the same, they suffer almost no consequences and yet they always buy out or plain copy the startups. It’s stuff like that I find insufferable nowadays.
