All “electronic displays” are mentioned in this directive — it’s a blanket term that, in a sense, is the heart of the problem.

To be honest, I had not thought of that class of displays as I usually focus on consumer products. But yeah, if these have to be very bright — as I guess they’d have to be in most conference rooms — then it’s highly likely that they also need a lot of power.

They will not be used for HDR content, obviously, which is the most energy-consuming type of material to display, but if they have to exceed e.g. 400–450 nits of brightness in SDR (the typical threshold for SDR PC monitors), I can’t see how they’d be able to do that within the power consumption limits of this revised directive.
